Suffolk Libraries - World Book Day Reflections

Yesterday was World Book Day, and it couldn’t be a more important moment to celebrate the incredible value our libraries bring to communities. Yet, Suffolk County Council's decision to take libraries back in-house flies in the face of common sense.
Suffolk Libraries UK, an independent charity set up to save Suffolk’s libraries from closure under Conservative austerity, has been one of Suffolk’s proudest success stories. They saved all libraries from closure and opened more libraries. But they do so much more than just provide our community with books. Their health and wellbeing services and community support reach every corner of our County, and the army of volunteers help thousands of people each month.
But all is this under threat by Suffolk County Council’s plans to bring it back in house. Sign the petition here: https://www.change.org/p/stop-suffolk-county-council-wrecking-our-fabulous-local-libraries
I raised the issue yesterday in the House of Commons, and will continue to champion Suffolk Libraries in my discussions against this appalling plan.
