Yesterday in the Environment, Food, and Rural Affairs Select Committee, I questioned Dr Christine Middlemiss, Chief Veterinary Officer at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA), and Dr Jenny Stewart, Interim Chief Executive at the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) on the Recent outbreaks of blue tongue disease in livestock.

Suffolk Coastal was at the epicentre of this summer’s blue tongue, and I have spoken to many farmers affected - so I was keen to hear about the Department’s response, and the lessons learnt.
